Industrial Designer & Developer
Warwickshire (Office based)
This is a mid-weight role. We are not looking for a graduate currently.
Green Sheep Group is a high growth and ambitious UK-based company. We operate two award winning brands, Snüz and The Little Green Sheep, selling to some of the UK’s biggest retailers and internationally. Previously winning The Queens Award for Enterprise - Innovation runs through the veins of our company.
We offer a range of products for babies and children, across multiple brands and a variety of product categories, including furniture, bedding, mattresses, and toys. Innovation and style are in the DNA of every product we design with quality, sustainability, and fair trading at the heart of how we manufacture.
Our brands have seen huge growth over the last two years and with continued opportunity and investment in this area, we are now looking to grow the design team within the Product department.
As a Product Designer and Developer at Green Sheep Group, you will work with the Product Director, and existing designer, to create and manage all areas of the categories offered by our brands. Ensuring hard goods and soft goods ranges are aligned, this role will be extremely varied, so adaptability to new materials and categories is key, but the role will have a focus on furniture. This includes both the creation of new products (research, design, CAD work, development, safety standard compliance, sourcing, multiple factory visits and manufacturing) and the management of existing product lines (continual development, design improvements, factory QA, internal QC etc.).
Creating and managing beautiful ranges, that consist of products that are market leading, on brand and of consistently high quality, is the focus of the role.
Project Managing the development of various products simultaneously will be a crucial part of your role. This includes working on new products and improving the quality/efficiency of the process of NPD within hard goods, from concept through to manufacture and delivery.
You will liaise with internal and external personnel and suppliers, to achieve a common goal and meet deadlines.
Visiting factories in Europe and the Far East when required, will be crucial to ensure quality is upheld and NPD happens efficiently and quickly.
You will ensure that Green Sheep Group products remain the most innovative, considered, highest quality and safest within the industry.
Skills and experience to factor in your application and portfolio:
- 2+ years of product design and development/industry experience (furniture experience a bonus but not essential)
- Track record of successful product launches from concept, through development, mass manufacture and delivery
- Experience of liaising with suppliers and factory visits
- Experience in managing and improving quality
- Strong CAD skills (Solidworks ideal)
- Strong knowledge of Adobe CS and Microsoft Office
- Project management skills
- Communicating ideas visually and verbally
- Presentation skills
It’s a small design team, with a large amount of freedom and responsibility within the role, where you can truly impact the design direction of the brands and at the same time grow your skillset.
You will have a true passion for design with excellent time and priority management skills. You will thrive in an environment where you can make a difference creating new and innovative products.
This is an excellent opportunity with the prospect of significant progression, for someone wanting to make a difference and impact a fast growth business.
Working collaboratively within the design team at our head office (Snitterfield, Stratford-Upon-Avon), Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.30pm.
There will be an initial relaxed phone conversation to discuss the basics of the role and to review if your skill set and desire matches it.
Followed by a single stage interview, at the head office, with the Design Manager and Product Director. During this, you may be asked to complete a quick design challenge.
We offer a £35,000 Salary (depending on experience).
